We introduced My Box in 2020 to help support young people in semi-independent care in Nottingham City and Nottinghamshire. These young people have their rent and bills paid for and then only have £7 a day to get everything else they want or need.

We provide up to 250 My Boxes a few times a year which contain practical items such as washing up liquid, cleaning essentials, hygiene products such as shower gel, shampoo and soaps, as well as some additional items which are fun and engaging too.

Both boxes contain similar items, which will help young people on a daily basis, however the girls’ boxes also contain period products. As people are starting to realise the distress caused by period poverty, we have decided to offer the young women who receive these boxes a years supply of their preferred period product; from towels and tampons, to menstrual cups and period underwear in whatever size is required. They simply send us an email with the required information and we send them whatever they need.

My Box has been welcomed by both councils and really does help the young people’s £7 a day go a lot further.
